Welcome. Bring every question you have, there are no silly ones in our class. Show up ready to work, and we’ll show you exactly what it takes to pass.
See you in class.

Indiana Public Adjuster Institute was created to help you pass the Indiana public adjuster exam and build a successful career as a public adjuster. We'll be with you every step of the way as you build your new business and future.
A public adjuster works for the policyholder, not the insurance company. When a homeowner, business or renter has a property damage claim, you help them get a fair settlement. In Indiana, you need a public adjuster license from the Indiana Department of Insurance before you can advertise, solicit or act as one.
Our exam prep class teaches you exactly what the state exam asks, and we'll guide you through the bond and application process so you can launch your rewarding career with confidence.
First, email the Indiana Department of Insurance for a Certificate of Test Eligibility. You can't take the exam without it. Then you pass the state exam, get a $10,000 surety bond, and apply for your license. There's no required pre-licensing course, but the exam is 60 questions in 60 minutes and you need a 70 to pass.
That's why our class focuses on exactly what the exam asks. We'll also walk you through filing your application.
Once you pass, you apply for your license. We help you submit your application to the Indiana Department of Insurance, file your surety bond, and complete the other forms that go with it. Before you sign your first client, the state also has to approve your contract form.
Your license expires December 31. You renew it every year for $50 plus a bond renewal, and there's no continuing education. If it lapses, you start over, exam included. Want your own adjusting firm? It needs its own license and bond, and we'll help you with that as well.
Indiana requires a $10,000 surety bond, payable to the State of Indiana, before the Department of Insurance will issue your license. You buy it from a surety company for a small yearly premium, not the full $10,000. Proof of the bond goes in with your application, it can't be more than six months old, and you renew it every year. We show you where to get one and walk you through filing it.
