Study for the exam

Take the public adjuster course online, at your own pace, on your phone, tablet or desktop. Our Indiana public adjuster course covers everything the state exam asks in nine modules and more than 40 lessons, from Indiana insurance law to building construction.
Quizzes, flash cards and a full-length practice exam show you exactly where you stand. It's designed to take about six to eight hours, and you keep access for 12 months.

Pass the state exam

Ask the Indiana Department of Insurance for your Certificate of Test Eligibility by emailing agentlicensing@idoi.in.gov, then book with Pearson VUE at least 24 hours ahead. You can take the online public adjuster course anywhere, but you take the exam in person at a test center.
It's 60 questions in 60 minutes, you need a 70 to pass, and it's $50 per attempt. That's one question a minute, so we teach you to pace yourself, not just what to know.

Get your bond

Indiana requires a $10,000 surety bond. Don't worry, you don't pay $10,000. Bond companies sell it for about $100 a year.
It can't be more than six months old when you apply, and you renew it every year to keep your license.

Apply for your license

Once you pass, apply through Sircon with your exam pass, your bond and the $50 license fee. You need to be 18 or older and live in Indiana. No fingerprints, no continuing education. Licensed in Indiana and want Illinois too? See how public adjuster reciprocity works.
It reads like a lot on paper. It isn't once someone walks you through it, and we do. Your license runs through December 31 and renews each year for $50.
